August challenge – Metallic colors or texture

Some people love gold – it is like a magnet for many. But some people prefer silver. And some don’t like metallic colors at all 🙂 This month we would like to challenge you, so you use metallic color or texture in your project.
Here is the inspiration from our team:
All girls love to shine, love glow and compliments 🙂 I made a card for my best friend who loves gold 🙂
Metallic really is a great topic for a challenge. The possibilities of interpretation is endless, I mean – metallic can be so much, and used in so many different way. I wanted to make a really shiny but yet classy project. I came up with the idea of stamping on a tag with a script stamp from the Soulmates Collection. By using Flitter Glue & Mega Flakes I got a cool metallic effect. I used the same technique when stamping the feathers from the Fortune Teller stamp set. Then I layered paper scraps and die cuts from Fortune Teller togheter with a piece of old lace and flowers. A word sticker tie everything together. I´m really happy with the result. I think the tag both looks cool, romantic and shiny.
I just knew I had to use the metallic paints in this challenge piece but the hard part was to decide what kind of project I was to make! After some pondering I decided to do a layout using the metal colors in the background and mixed in some rust effect as well. The idea was to capture “time flies” – how my two daughters grow up so, so fast! It seems that it was yesterday when they were babies and now they are starting school and pre-school. Tempus fugit – carpe diem!
What an amazing challenge, good opportunity to use my paints from Finnabair. I used also some embossing folders to add metallic textures. Usually, I don’t use more than two or three colors, but this time, I just played with them and I don’t hate that 🙂 I also used the feather stamp from Fortune-Teller collection and I put them with flowers and others embellishments. I loved to create a project for that challenge…
Metallic colors are my favorite…I love everything shiny, shimmering and that’s why I have so many gorgeous shimmering paints and inks. It was not hard at all to use the elements from this theme in my project!
I used gold as my metallic color and the circle shaped metal trinket behind my butterfly, has lots of texture, created with glas glitter, glass beads and rhinestones.
The frame has also texture, because I painted it with golden and graphite acrylic paint, used some tissue paper, painted it again, and when this all was dry, I covered the whole frame with lace.
About my project: I wanted to create something different with the papers from 7 Dots Studio, than a layout, or card or tag.
I die cutted a doily out of a paper from the Homegrown collection ( paper 12 x 12 ‘Dreamy’). The doily is glued down on the back of the frame (in the middle) and it has a see-through effect this way.
I stamped my butterflies on paper from Homegrown 6 x 6 paper pad. I used embossing powder on my darker butterfly, and my golden butterfly is stamped with acrylic paint.
Because I felt my angelic butterfly had turned out very mysterious, I was searching for a title that really fitted my project.
I found the title on a word sticker from the Lost and Found collection…. Just a whisper….Mysterious and magical…like my shimmering butterfly. She whispers soft when she flies nearby….
Love, Sanderijn
In this creation I played with texture and splashes. I love it. I like the mix of metal and grunge. The Homegrown Collection matches such style perfectly.
The Prima – Art Alchemy – Metallique of Finnabair are great for achieving the metal effect.
Enjoy my video:)
I made a tag using a lot of metallic things – a gold foil, an embossing powder, a metal plate. I used elements from Destination Unknown and Yuletide.
Making these tags I had big fun with creating texture.
I used a lot of media, beautiful UmWowStudio stencils and chipboard, papers and words stickers from 7 Dots Studio.
