Two layouts with teal background by Riikka Kovasin

Hi there! It’s Riikka here today! I’m sharing two layouts this time. They both have teal colored background and the composition is quite similar in each one as well, but because of the different accent colors and style of the embellishments, the finished pages are different after all!

The first page is about my younger daughter and something she just got – a skateboard. She’s been talking about it quite a while and during the summer we finally bought her one. As she’s only five, we naturally got also a helmet and the whole protective gear. Funny enough she learned how to stay on the board and get forward the first time she tried! Now we’ve been practicing almost every day.

Both pages have somewhat similar layers – this layout I started with gesso and then added watercolor, mist and ink on top. There’s also some stamping and doodling there.

This page I made using green, teal and a touch of white. The other page on the other hand has pink and orange with the pale teal and white. I tried to make the other page a bit more boyish and rough and kept the other one sweet and girly.

The other page is about my older daughter and the time she lost her first tooth. She had been waiting for that day so long and was very happy when the first one started to be loose.

Even though I used a stencil in the first page as well, the stenciled pattern is much more visible in this page. For the first page I used just mist to add some pattern to the background, but with this page I mixed acrylic paint together with Modeling Paste and created a flower pattern. Like in the first page, there’s also stamping and doodling in the background.

One more thing the pages have in common is that there’s just the 12×12 sheet of patterned paper in both – the layers are done using tags, stickers and diecuts! Well, there’s a small envelope and some doilies in the pages as well, but the only piece of patterned paper is the background in each!

Thank you for stopping by today!

Xoxo Riikka
