September challenge – Steampunk

This month we would like to encourage you to create any Steampunk project. According to Wikipedia: “Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.”

Here is the inspiration from our team:

For this challenge Louise has taken a simple approach to the steampunk theme, a simple black and white colour palette, and chipboard cog embellishments; all together the layout is simple and elegant with a touch of steampunk.

In this creation I had fun in texture and gears. I love his. I like the mix of metal and grunge. The Cold Contry Collection marries wonderfully with is style.
The Prima – Art Alchemy – Metallique of Finnabair and Gesso are great for the Splatters effect.
I love the Steampunk Style.
Of course you find the theme of the challenge in this page.

Steampunk is very hard style for me. But i deceided my make altered prodject for our challenge. I make a feather for Steampunk Girl using Fortune-teller die-cut elements, element stickers and Lost and Found word stickers. I think this collections have special steampunk mood.

For our new challenge I made a steampunk clock. I used quotes from Lost and Found collection. I covered all gears and clock with hot embossing and mists to make vintage-look.

When i heard about the Steampunk Challenge, i could’t decide whether to design a lay out which is more comfortable for me or something totally different…So i challenged myself too, doing a Steampunk shadow box with many tiny details and and a lot of distressing. My hands became brown for several days, but i really enjoyed the procedure.Fussy cutting to some vintage-steampunk pictures among with ”Fortune teller” collection papers and stickers were my main materials used.

I adore this style, but I rarely dare to venture there. Here, I built around a box packaging of Prima. Several chipboards and elements métalique were stacked to realize this page-pattern. I used several stickers, paper and words of the collection Fortune Teller. This collection was ideal to realise the Steampunk style. I also paint my flowers to add a metallic touch to them with the Finnabair paint.

What an amazing challenge,STEAMPUNK !!!
For this challenge, I wanted to create something different with the papers from Fortune-Teller 7 Dots Studio collection.
I used the Fortune Teller collection pad 6×6 to create my hot air balloon, and I love it !!
I played with texture, papers, metal embellishments…

To me steampunk means gears, rusty colors, textures and old photos. I tried to combine all those elements in this journal cover. There’s chipboard gears and there’s brown and rusty colors. For texture part I used a denim journal at the first place and then added rust paste to the journal as well as used different materials. Old photo part was an easy one as there’s plenty to choose from in the 7 Dots Studio collections, for example the new Fortune-teller or the older Cold Country.

For Steampunk challenge I decided to make a love card. I used our older collections – Domestic Goddess and Destination Unknown. I made the paper a little rusty by using some mists. I must admit it was great. I hope You’ll play with us with this inspirational challenge.

I love all styles of mixed media but combining the techniques with a Steampunk theme is one of my favourites. I used the elements from the 7 Dots Studio Fortune Teller and combined them with metallic and resin embellishments to create these mini 4×4 canvases. I used rust paste to give it the rusted look.”
Here is the recording of a video on how I created these Winged Boxes live during the Artsits Live Ustream Show on Monday September 5th”
