May Challenge: Dreams

In the month of May we thought that the next challenge will be about Dreams. May it be dreams, goals, aspirations or actual night dreams we want you to take what lies inside you imagination and channel it into your projects. So what dreams have you been having lately? Come and share them with us in this challenge.

Here is the inspiration from our team:

“Dreamroad This Way” – I created an art journaling page using the Dreamscapes and Hazy Days collections from 7 Dots Studio. I had a specific idea for this page but it didn’t turned out at all like I expected; it actually turned out better. The page took a turn on its own which made me realize that I must follow my heart and intuition when creating. It really fit the theme of this challenge perfectly as I really felt as if my dreams really know the way and I must follow!! There is a video tutorial above on how I created this art journaling page.

I guess we all have big dreams, goals to achieve in our life. It’s ok – I have such dreams myself, but I always try to remember that we should enjoy the little things, everyday miracles. Only then we’ll be happy. I prepared my layout using Dreamscapes collection.

I had fun making a tag in for this challenge from the Cotton Candy Dreams collection that i think fits theme perfectly. Please enjoy the video.

For our May challenge I made this tag in delicate, pastel colours. I used elements from Dreamscapes and Hazy Days collections. I liked geometric stencils and chipboards, with their help you can conjure up beautiful patterns.

Hello everybody, I love this picture of my little son, now He’s 6 years old, but dreaming is still one of his favourite activities. He is a great dreamer. So this theme is perfect for him !!! I created the background for my project with a paper from the Writer’s Block collection, used blue sprays and modeling paste + a stencil to add texture. I also used Word Stickers, Dies cut and more papers from the same collection, I love it! The embroidering hoop was paint with metallic paints and wax .

What could be more perfect collection to use for a Dream related project than Cotton Candy Dreams? My project is a sweet reminder to never let go of your dreams. You need to chase them, grasp them, make them true. But what’s most important, you need to have them. So sweet dreams!

HI dreamers! This month, I treated my layout as an art journal. I choose Cotton candy collection to play with. I cut two papers and added to my background to make a 12×12 paper. I added gesso to blend the colours. I added some tags ,elements, stamps and words stickers from the same collection. You can get all that you need in one collection to make a layout or an an journal page. Have fun!

For the May challenge Louise has created a cute little 6 x 12 layout. Louise has struggled through some health and work related issues over the last 12 – 18 months and as a result she feels she has become, a little more grumpy and less tolerant in her day to day life. The layout is a reminder to not forget ‘Kindness’ to herself and those around her.

April Challenge: My Favourite Things

This month’s challenge is a nice and easy one. Just think what’s your favourite thing. Would you like to share it with us? The theme of this challenge is “My Favourite Things” so now You have a chance to use one of your favourite things, Scrapbooking to show us your other interests. We can’t wait to see what will you create this month.

Here is the inspiration from our team:

I made a mixed media piece, with all my favourite art supplies. It is called ‘believe’ and it is made to remind myself to never give up, be myself and stay strong.
Now about my favourite art supplies: first of all that is of course the gorgeous paper from 7 Dots Studio (I used Cotton Candy Dreams). First I painted it with a layer of clear gesso, then I added some sprakling paints in the corners of the paper. I used many different stamps and stencils with black and white gesso. I added layer after layer. I finished with dry brushing some vintage golden wax, this way the frame and the texture on the paper, get a gorgeous golden shimmer. As a last step I glued down the word stickers on the sides when the paper was framed. With love, Sanderijn

My favourite flowers are daisies. I believe that it is because they remind me the name of my great-grandmother as well as her soft and strong personality at the same time. I chose dark background colour and placed my word stickers on the edges to better expose this photo of “my favourites”.

My favourite things in the life are the sea, stars, skies, sun, summer and relaxing at the beach. Also I love-love-love 7 Dots Studio paper from 9th Wave Collection, feathers, chipboard and blue colour. So this layout is my way to escape from reality and go to my dreams. I combined my favourite things from the life and favourite scrap materials. And I love how it looks together!

For this challenge has created a layout of one of her people! Her cousin/stepsister. She doesn’t get to see her as much as we would like but she has photos and keeps in touch with her via the internet.

Picking what to do for this topic was not as obvious as you could imagine. There are a lot of things that are my favourites – my family, food, wine, exercise and much more. But one of the things I have come to appreciate the past years is the area where I live. Even though I have lived here all my life I constantly find new places to explore – many of them filled with great beauty and mystery. The place on the pictures is an old mill – I have been running past it for more than 20 years without even knowing it was there – my husband showed it to me and I was totally amazed. I love how the composition with the photos and papers & embellishments from the Writer´s Block Collection turned out.

Travelling is one of my favourite activities. When I travel, when I discover new places and cultures – I feel happy, I feel alive! The world is so beautiful, there are so many places to explore! I’m afraid than one life is not enough to see them all.

I documented some of my favorite pieces from last summer’s trip to Tallinn. We visited a recycling center while in there and boy did I do great finds there! Crocheted doilies, old scissors and spoons, books with Cyrillic letters… I was really excited!
I have had this picture in my “scrap these” pile for a while and when I read the topic, I knew that now was the time to make a page out of it! I used a combination of the old and the new in my page, mimicking the colors in the picture. Some old paper hues mixed with fresh, clean blue.

In this creation, I decided to make a simple page.nI love using the 7 Dots Studio papers it is of exceptional quality. As always the stickers are amazing as well. I love horses and eyes such a good combo. Enjoy the video.

March Challenge: Altered Art – Beyond the page

We all love making different types of beautiful cards and layouts, who doesn’t. This month we want to do something a little different so we challenged our design team and want to challenge you to create an Altered Art project. Will it be a accessory, blank canvas or an ornament you own that you think would use some more colour and embellishments here is a chance to transform it and share with us.

Here is the inspiration from our team:

I created a 3D pop up book page for the Altered Art March challenge. I used both Destination Unknown and Cotton Candy Dreams to create this underwater assemblage. I used chipboard, flowers, mini art stones, real shells and starfish and a mini glass bottle. I combined everything with some mixed media sprays, gesso, alcohol inks and stuck it all with gel. I mounted it all on an old hard cover book so it would be sturdy enough to withstand the mixed media products and the heavy pieces. I’m quite pleased with the results. This is a picture of my kids during a photo shoot at the beach so I thought it was perfect for this off the page project.

I made this little tin lady using an old candy box and papers, stickers and die-cuts from Cotton Candy Dreams. I covered the inside with a piece of the “Pucker Up” paper and then added the little lady, and used the speech bubble from the die-cut sheet as a focal point on the top. Word sticker add the right feeling. She is now sitting on the shelf where I keep all my mists

My first idea was to alter something and go really mixed media with it. But as that’s what I love to do, I thought to challenge myself a bit more and go easy with the mediums. Luckily I then found a tall tin jar in my stash and thought to make a pen holder out of it. That way I could use more patterned paper and embellishments and not so much mediums! I did use some mediums, but did use quite a few paper elements as well. Can’t wait to see what you do with the theme!

I simply love the design of the abstract flowers on the “Cotton Candy Dreams” papers. I wanted to replicate them and combine my own drawing with the printed design onto a canvas. The process was lots of fun as I experimented how to get a similar effect in my drawing to that on the papers. I just love the end result, it’s so whimsical and exactly how I imagined it.

Today Louise is sharing her fun take on paper dolls. Louise loves to create these just for creative fun, and or to use in her scrapbooking and art journal. Louise thought it would be great to use the fabulous 7 Dots Studio stamps so she has used them to create patterns on the dresses of her quaint hand drawn girly peeps.

Hi everyone !
My self-confidence is very low… like many of us but I really think that beauty lies beyond the mirror! I created this mirror to express this feeling. At first, this mirror was white, I used a lot of mixed media products, metal embellishments and played with paints and sprays. Of course, I added 7 Dots Studio goodies, I’m in love with the 7 Dots Studio’s Words Stickers, I want to put them everywhere :) They match perfectly here, don’t they?
XOXOXOXOXO, Nathalie Dalibard

In this creation, I had fun altering a small box. I love using the 7 Dots Studio papers as the are of nice quality and thickness. I love texture and 3D feel so I embellished the box with a bit of chipboards and tags. It turned out magical and mystical at the same time.
Please enjoy the video.

For this challenge, I made small rectangle boxes form 7 Dots Studio papers to add to my canvas to get more volume. I added mediums as well for texture and to decorate the whole. I also used stickers and tags also from 7 Dots Studio. A real pleasure to create.

Hello,Everyone! This is my project for Altered Art Challenge. It’s an easel for my cards and tags photo sessions =) I used Sweet Candy Dream Collection.

I love altered art! My favourite things to make awesome are bulbs and bottles. So, this month I decided to make spring bottle with wire dragonfly. And now it is my favourite 3D-project. I really love all this glitter and bright colours, and almost alive dragonfly!
