Also from this month onwards the winner of the Challenge will get a chance to be a guest designer on our blog.

Here is the inspiration from our team:

When I heard about the theme from this challenge, I immediately knew I wanted to use this picture. This picture is from the first sunset at Lake Garda (Lago Di Garda) in Italy, when we arrived there this summer. I have never been to Italy and I absolutely love the country already. Lake Garda is gorgeous and you get to see the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises (although I never saw those because I was asleep). I took many pictures of the sunset that vacation, and I love to have those warm and happy memories every time I see them again…

I always liked the photos of sunrise and sunset. I always found it inspiring. Then, what asked of better for a challenge? I played with cotton candy dreams collection because the colors were just perfect to fit with my picture. My cousin took this picture from a trip in Replublic Dominican with all my ants and I…so much fun we had…

I love to watch as the sun rises and sets! It seems to me that at this time miracles happen! For my layout I have used 7 Dots Studio – Dreamscapes collection.

A new challenge so new inspiration. And what better than a bright and lively canvas. I wanted to do something a bit different this month and decided how perfect than to use the “Sunrise” Paper from the Dreamscapes Collection and focus on the face as the focal point of the composition. Using various elements from the collection with layering and adding texture, the piece comes together and brings a little bit of sunshine into your day. You can also watch the video of the creative process.

When I think Sunrise, I imagine a new beginnings, inspiration, creating… I decided to create a Sunrise themed layout. I picked a beautiful picture from free image stock and matched to it 2 different color papers, just like in the picture. Next I added a background stumping, modeling paste through Geometry stencil and all the embellishments. You welcome to watch the whole process in my video tutorial.

When I think – sunset – I always see the beautiful sun falling down into the Baltic Sea… For me it is one of the most wonderful views in the world. Don’t You think? Just take a look… Enjoy!

Hello everyone! I made an autumn notepad in the technique of “midori”. I used the Dreamscapes collection.

For this months Challenge Louise has scrapped a simple style, 6 x 12 inch layout featuring selfie photos of her profile, on the beach at Terrigal Beach, just as the sun was setting.

September Challenge: Favourite Historical Figure

Last month we asked you who your favourite artist was. Now after all of your amazing entries on that subject we want you to share with us who is your Favourite Historical Figure. Make projects about people from the past either those who changed the world or  those who are important to you. Who’s going to be your inspiration this month?

Here is the inspiration from our team:

I chose to tell you about a woman I discovered only recently: Irena Sendlerowa, who worked as a plumber and locksmith in Warsaw’s ghetto during World War II. She saved the lives of 2500 children by taking them out of the ghetto, hiding them in her toolbox or in a big bag according to the size of the children. To help her, she trained her dog to bark on command in order to cover the sounds made by the children, so the nazi guards did not discover their presence. To make my page, I used the magnificent Dreamscapes collection that I find perfect for this theme.

I chose Johannes Kepler – a German mathematician, an astronomer, a mechanic, an optician, the discoverer of the laws of motion of the planets of the solar system. For my work, I chose paper from the old collection “Destination unknown” and “Fortune Teller”.

Hello, friends! I’ve been thinking of the some historical character for me to do as the main character of my page. And then I remembered a wonderful film called the Golden age. It tells of the reign of Queen Elizabeth of England. I love that movie. I like the outfits, the gorgeous decorations of the palaces, gold and luxury of the era! The Queen Elizabeth was beautiful red hair. I took a photo of a girl with similar hair, but her face is not visible, it disappeared in time… For my layout I have used 7 Dots Studio – Hazy Days

As the new challenge is about historical persons of interest, I had so many historical figures pass my mind. Thinking about so many influential people that helped shape the world as it is today. I had finally choose Anne Frank. She was such an old wise soul in such a young person. And with all that was going on in the world during her short time here, so many positive and encouraging words of wisdom came from her and her writing. She was brave and she has a legacy that will live on for generations to come.

”I had a dream”.. Who does not know this famous sentence? My creation is based on this famous quote of Martin Luther King. This evocation which no matter who we are or where we come from, we have the possibility of moving forward, of making our dreams a reality. I adore this idea and what it evokes, and it is true especially with all which takes place in the fault the world…

This is a delightful challenge and I could not decide who will be my favourite historical figure, so many ideas!
I am more often inspired by books, fairy tales and films and this time my heart was subdued by King Arthur. I dreamed of making a layout with this picture! How much strength, emotion and no need for words here. This project was very exciting for me, because I did the first layout in the style of grunge. And I was inspired by an amazing new collection ” Hazy Days”. Each sheet of this collection opens up new possibilities and ideas for me. It’s incredible. And of course I like to use a stencil from the collection “Writer’s Block” – Letters. For decor I used tags from collection ” Hazy Days” and Finnabair products for mixed media. This is an amazing and very inspiring challenge and I hope you will join us soon!

August Challenge: Favorite Artist

Every artist must start somewhere and usually we start looking up to somebody. Our favourite artists inspire us with they creativity and spark our own. That’s why this month the theme of our challenge is Favourite Artist. So, who is it? Who inspires you? Make any scrapbooking project about your favourite craftsperson using 7 Dots Studio products and share it with us in the August Challenge.

Here is the inspiration from our team:

This month’s theme at 7 Dots Studio is “Favourite Artist” and I created a mixed media collage project about one of my favourite artists: Frida Kahlo. I’ve always admired her courage as an independent woman who despite her physical and emotional pain she was able to succeed as an artist in a male dominant society. I call this piece Ode to Frida Kahlo and I used a gel transfer technique for her face. Then I used rust and patina paste to alter it. I also used the Hazy Days collection for the background. Watch my video tutorial above to see how I created it.

I choose Franz Marc as my favorite artist. This oil painting he created in 1912 (Little Yellow Horses) is one of my favourite paintings ever in the history of art. Franz Marc has been an inspiration for me since I was a teenager. I love the expressionistic peroid in the history of art, with the bright colors and the way they started painting more and more abstract. This is one of my favorite periods, and Franz marc was inspired by lots of other artist who are also on my fav list. I decided to use oil pastels to recreate this painting. I used the paper from Dreamscapes ‘Narwhal’ to draw the horses on, and I glued it down on the paper from Hazy Days ‘Twilight’. I wanted to create the background differently, so I used stamps, stencils and word stickers to come to a similar composition.

This piece of art is titled ‘Bewitched Park’ by Leonid Efremov. He is my favourite artist at the moment. I enjoy his bright, and vivid style. He paints with oil paints and only a palette knife. His art has inspired my layout.

One of my favourite artists is Leonardo da Vinci. I admire his personality, his creativity and his great mind. I decided to do a canvas using Fortune teller paper collection and stamps from Hazy days collection. Wish you good mood and a lot of inspiration. Hugs, Nadya

I created layout with one of my favorite Actresses Scarlett Johansson. I just love movies with her participation! I think she is very talented and her roles are always memorable!

This month’s the challenge at 7 Dots Studio is Your Favourite Artist. Well there are so many to choose from, I had to narrow it down to someone who called to me, who had some of the same interests as me, and why not do Leonardo da Vinci. He was not only famous for the Mona Lisa but he desire to explore and under stand the human body as portrayed in the Vitruvian Man. His desire to learn and understand anatomy and physiology intrigues me. His talent not only an artist but scientist and botanist, although never truly considered a scientist, all of those subjects that interest me. So I hope you enjoy my “Specimen A” of the Vitruvian Man.

For this months challenge Louise has created a 6 x 12 layout about one of her favourite artists, or more so one of her favourite group of artists; ‘Street Artists’. Louise just loves Urban street art, and especially loved all of the street art she saw when she travelled to NYC. This particular photo is of some street art from Brooklyn NY.

I’m a bit shy today to show you my layout for this challenge. I didn’t use a picture for my favourite scrapbook artist, but I choose to use her style with the aim of honoring her. I hope that you recognize her through this layout… After some years as 7 Dots Studio DT member, She’s now one of our great Brand Ambassador, Louise Nelson. For, me, she is a real artist, she create with emotions and always try something new and creative. I always love to discover her last piece of art… Thanks for inspiring me Louise …xx

One person immediately came to my mind for this challenge is “Aishwarya Rai”. Former Miss world and a great actress,a best example for beauty with brains. Even after two decades of winning the title, she is still popular and successful, the way she carries herself with dignity is something commendable. My childhood favourite and a role model to every women out there.

Most recently, I got acquainted with the work of the Yakut artist Andrei Chikachev. I really liked his paintings, they are about life, about nature. And one picture has sunk into my soul especially. It is called “Widow”. I was very touched by the old woman, pictured on it. And very surprised and delighted the artist’s desire to capture this episode from the life of this particular woman.
For my work, I chose a piece of paper from the old collection “Domestic Goddess”. With a background perfectly with the new collection “Dreamscapes”.
