April Challenge: My Favourite Things

This month’s challenge is a nice and easy one. Just think what’s your favourite thing. Would you like to share it with us? The theme of this challenge is “My Favourite Things” so now You have a chance to use one of your favourite things, Scrapbooking to show us your other interests. We can’t wait to see what will you create this month.

Here is the inspiration from our team:

I made a mixed media piece, with all my favourite art supplies. It is called ‘believe’ and it is made to remind myself to never give up, be myself and stay strong.
Now about my favourite art supplies: first of all that is of course the gorgeous paper from 7 Dots Studio (I used Cotton Candy Dreams). First I painted it with a layer of clear gesso, then I added some sprakling paints in the corners of the paper. I used many different stamps and stencils with black and white gesso. I added layer after layer. I finished with dry brushing some vintage golden wax, this way the frame and the texture on the paper, get a gorgeous golden shimmer. As a last step I glued down the word stickers on the sides when the paper was framed. With love, Sanderijn

My favourite flowers are daisies. I believe that it is because they remind me the name of my great-grandmother as well as her soft and strong personality at the same time. I chose dark background colour and placed my word stickers on the edges to better expose this photo of “my favourites”.

My favourite things in the life are the sea, stars, skies, sun, summer and relaxing at the beach. Also I love-love-love 7 Dots Studio paper from 9th Wave Collection, feathers, chipboard and blue colour. So this layout is my way to escape from reality and go to my dreams. I combined my favourite things from the life and favourite scrap materials. And I love how it looks together!

For this challenge has created a layout of one of her people! Her cousin/stepsister. She doesn’t get to see her as much as we would like but she has photos and keeps in touch with her via the internet.

Picking what to do for this topic was not as obvious as you could imagine. There are a lot of things that are my favourites – my family, food, wine, exercise and much more. But one of the things I have come to appreciate the past years is the area where I live. Even though I have lived here all my life I constantly find new places to explore – many of them filled with great beauty and mystery. The place on the pictures is an old mill – I have been running past it for more than 20 years without even knowing it was there – my husband showed it to me and I was totally amazed. I love how the composition with the photos and papers & embellishments from the Writer´s Block Collection turned out.

Travelling is one of my favourite activities. When I travel, when I discover new places and cultures – I feel happy, I feel alive! The world is so beautiful, there are so many places to explore! I’m afraid than one life is not enough to see them all.

I documented some of my favorite pieces from last summer’s trip to Tallinn. We visited a recycling center while in there and boy did I do great finds there! Crocheted doilies, old scissors and spoons, books with Cyrillic letters… I was really excited!
I have had this picture in my “scrap these” pile for a while and when I read the topic, I knew that now was the time to make a page out of it! I used a combination of the old and the new in my page, mimicking the colors in the picture. Some old paper hues mixed with fresh, clean blue.

In this creation, I decided to make a simple page.nI love using the 7 Dots Studio papers it is of exceptional quality. As always the stickers are amazing as well. I love horses and eyes such a good combo. Enjoy the video.

October challenge – Wood grain texture

Do you like wood grain texture? It can be found on many scrapbooking papers, stamps, stencils and other embellishments because most of us just love the raw look of wood :) You will find it also in our latest collections :) Use wood grain texture on you project and join our October-November challenge :) Here is inspiration from out Design Team:

I love the woodgrain pattern! And there’s so many different ones in 7 Dots Studio collections right now. I chose to go with this white / mint green one from the Verano Azul collection and documented my younger girl’s selfie in the page. She’s really enthusiastic photographer and while most of the shots are from the floor or hazy details of toys, some of the photos are real gems like this one. I love how she has captured herself in the photo!

Wooden bench, wooden layers, wooden background. Wood is everywhere! Enjoy!
To create my layout I used wooden sheets of paper from Verano Azul collection.

“Love is all you need” is what I titled this picture piece of my neice, with her Dad, my brother-in-law.

I made this as a “thank you” gift for her, having had my daughter to stay for the last couple of months, in the UK. Putting things under glass is a great idea for gifts as it protects your work forever & makes it display easy. I used the woodgrain paper from the Verano Azul Collection as my base paper & layered up some tags around it. As I needed to keep everything flat, to fit under the glass, I used mists, paints, inks & stamps, instead of embellishments, to add some ‘pop’!

I decided to make a Refrigerator magnet for my cousin and his wife. They are very beautiful couple. I’ve made wood texture on background paper and added different elements with fall mood.

Wood grain is one of my most favourite textures. I see it all around me and in all of the things that I love. Old wooden doors built into my favourite old buildings, worn and weathered window frames with the paint peeling away but this photo of my favourite jetty is the best wood grain image for me. I have the most beautiful memories of walking the length of this jetty as a child in my bare feet, the warmth from the sun heating up the wooden planks, sitting on the edge and dangling my legs over while I went fishing or diving off the landings into the blue ocean to cool off on really hot days. I visit this jetty every summer and it never fails to amaze me with it’s beauty

This was a very fun challenge to do as I love using wood grain patterns in my projects. There were so many ways to interpret this theme and 7 Dost Studios conveniently has many collection papers with a wood grain pattern on them. However I chose to use a wood grain stencil to create this pattern in the background to match the natural feel of the photo.

With this month’s challenge Louise is using the beautiful Verano Azul range to create a layout to document her friendship with her wonderful creative friend Lisa.
