Hi again! Just as i promised we are back with more ideas and creativity in the “Cultural Extras” section!
In this monthly project we’ll be sharing creations inspired with all this which is an important part of our life: art, music, books and movies, traditions and customs. Today we start with one of the most recognisable songs of the XX century: “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin.  Be prepared for the real feast to your eyes and ears!

First, we start with beautiful mixdmedia layout  “Family {is but another heaven}” made by Heidi. Isn’t it just amazing?

Heidi Kelley says:

Using “The Stairway to Heaven” has endless possibilities! For me, I wanted to create a layout about creating family, and how each and every day, every step, is a little slice of heaven here on earth.
“Sweet Dreams” from the Dreamer collection made for a beautiful backdrop, and “Daydreaming” built the dreamy looking stairs without any effort. On the right side of the page I layered, upon layered, lots of strips and bits from the remaining “Daydreaming” paper, as well as adding in some of the die-cuts from the same collection, and of course, lots of messy paint and mist to top the whole project off!

Here is how this song inspired Hege to create a lovely,  sweet layout:

Hege AL says:
I’ve used a Prima mask to get te misting effect on the bottom of the layout. Love det look it gives. I’ve also cut out the details on the Elise Rebel paper. I absolutly love the colors and shape of them. Also used prima flowers to go with the colors in the photos an paper/misting. 🙂

And now detailed, breathtaking layout from Tara:

Tara Orr says:
I had so much fun with our assignment of being inspired by the song “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zepplin. There were endless possibilities on how to interpret such a beautiful piece.

Firstly, I wanted to keep the overall feel to my project very light and airy – to represent the sky. I chose to focus on tones of blue and white primarily – especially towards the top of my layout.

I decided to tier the bottom level of my project to represent a stairway. The title has been taken from part of the lyrics in the song…

I just love all the coordinating stickers and elements that are part of this gorgeous Dreamer collection. Here I decided to frame one of the stickers with some inked grungeboard. I accented this embellishment (as well as several others throughout the project) with metal to represent the ‘heavy metal’ band Led Zepplin.

Lots of soft layers here – just love having the page look ‘full’. The musical note paper was included to represent the ‘song’ and I added some wings to myself to represent ‘angels in heaven’.

Many people have argued that when played backwards, this song has a hidden satanical meaning. I chose to include hidden journaling to represent this message.

I quoted the lyrics on my journaling “and a new day will dawn, for those who stand long, and the forest will echo with laughter”. I love this particular part of the song. To me, it simply means, when you are going through a difficult time in your life, if you stay strong and don’t give up, eventually, everything will work out and everything will be ok. Love this.

Some more close up shots of the metal pieces I’ve incorporated into this project as well as the soft scalloped layers which I’ve meant to represent the clouds.

Some more lovely stickers that I’ve hilighted by framing in a grungeboard frame.
