Good day, 7 Dots Studio friends! Today it is Amy sharing on the blog, and I have used the beautiful Cold Country and Nature Walk collections for this layout. I was inspired by the natural beauty that is appearing outside outside my window as spring approaches. As I shake off the winter blues, I realize I’m strong enough for anything that comes my way, I just need to keep the faith. This project celebrates that.

I love how well all of the new collections can be mixed and matched. The way the fussy cut chevron in the Nature Walk contrasts with the colors of Cold Country are a dream…..and work so well with mixed media.

I was so inspired by the wild and free nature theme of Nature Walk, that it brought my mind to our family’s trip to Hawaii last year……where nature was something of a piece of heaven. The colors that flooded the eyes- the blue sea, the rainbow over a pineapple field, lush green mountains that created waterfalls when it would rain….I wanted to capture that.

While the Nature Walk collection is neutral, adding vibrant color makes a fabulous contrast. I used a photo of my youngest daughter, with a hibiscus flower in her hair…and built upon my memories of those two weeks in paradise. I added plenty of butterflies, stamped, and also paper punched and sewn on the page, to add movement, and a cluster of rainbow painted flowers for my own Hawaiian garden on a page. 🙂
