Helen Tilbury – Brothers of the Heart
Hi! My name is Helen Tilbury & I am a Zimbabwean, currently living in South Africa {since 2006}. I have 4 children aged 13, 16, 19 & 21, two of whom are away at university for ¾ of the year. I live in Durban, very close to the East Coast {Indian Ocean} although I am not a beach person at all! I love the look & smell of the sea but hate sand & overcrowding!
I have a wonderful partner who I’ve been with for 30 years & he helps & supports me in everything I do, including my scrapbooking, which I started with in 2003. I had no idea what I was doing in those first few years but as time went by I came to understand what it was truly all about & in 2008 started my blog, which put me in touch with the international crafting scene, which taught me everything I know today.
You can find my blog here & I am on Facebook here, Pinterest here, Instagram here & You-Tube here. I also have the pleasure of designing for Inkido {Papercraftscandinavia}, 2Crafty Chipboard {Australia}, Scrap365 Magazine UK & Scrap Around The World, my own challenge blog.
I have a day job that keeps me busy & I also love to get creative with photography, videos, DIY, decorating, organising & gardening too! Scrapbooking as an art form holds a very special place in my heart & I am over the moon with happiness to have been selected as a designer & ambassador for 7dots Studio!

Hi everyone! HELEN here with my very first project & blog post for 7Dots Studio – I am sooo excited!
I worked with the Nature Walk Collection by DeeDee Catron for 7Dots Studio, for the first time!!
The neutral papers are really versatile as they can be coloured with mists, gelatos or paints to suit the scheme of your page. I used mists, stamping & stencils on mine to bring a really earthy grunge
Look to the papers.
I used Winged Vines as my base paper, to tie in with my title “Brothers of the Heart” as there is a heart-like design on the right hand edge of it. I also used several tags, elements stickers & word stickers, all from the Nature Walk Collection.
I started by grunging up my base paper with different mediums to add depth & shine then I layered up my photo stack from the photo backwards to my base paper, using many different Nature Walk elements, tags & stickers.
I attached my photo stack with foam-tape to allow some space for some chipboard elements, metals & flowers to peek out from behind it too. I also added some black twine & staples for some masculinity.
To add interest to my composition I used a small Nature Walk tag on the top right of my page along with some of the same elements used in my main photo stack, to echo the elements & provide cohesion.
I also added hand-journaling {my favourite kind!} to the top left & bottom right-hand corner of my layout to keep my design interesting & also to record some important information I want to remember. Thank you for looking today! Keep on Crafting!!
