Step By Step

With this layout I wanted to created a ‘lovely’ layout to celebrate my friendship of my wonderful friend Paula and myself, and what better patterned paper to choose than the ‘Thoughts Keeper’ range. Whilst the paper I chose has a very busy pattern on it, I didn’t want to cover it up. With this in mind I layered up the tags and mediums to help make the photo still the main focus of the layout without the pattern overwhelming it. I didn’t want to obliterate or mute the beautiful pattern of the paper by using paint or gesso.

First spray selected mask with a small to medium amount of mist.

Flip the mask over and stamp the misted side of the mask down onto patterned paper, and allow to dry.

Take a selection of tags and die cuts to use as a background for your photo and ink the edges with black ink.

Mat photo on some of the pink pattern paper, ink edges of both the photo and paper mat, and create a lower edge patterned border with a punch.

Select extra die cuts, ink edges, and layout/layer and adhere, to get a pleasing balanced arrangement over the stencil pattern.

Create 5 loops of wire [big enough to surround photo], tie one of ends around anchor point to fix loops together.

Scrunch the loops in your hand, as depicted above.

Adhere scrunched loop of wire thread to bottom left edge of photo and adhere using a stapler.

Rearrange loops of the wire thread to expose faces in photo, and then flatten down using palm of your hand.

Protect photo with scraps of paper and add some splats of the dark mist around the photo on the patterned paper background and allow to dry.

Water down some glossy accents and splatter this around the photo and tags, this will be the adhesive for the micro beads in next step.

Sprinkle coordinating micro beads on and over areas of the glossy accents, shake off excess beads, and allow to dry.

Protect photo with scraps of paper and add some extra pop with splats of pink mist.

Take selected chipboard and colour using a coordinating pink chalk ink pad.

Tone down the pink colour of the chipboard with some grey chalk ink, over the surface and around the edges of the chipboard.

Arrange and adhere coloured chipboard shapes using double sided adhesive foam dots.

Colour chipboard title using grey chalk ink pad.

Adhere chipboard title with strong clear drying glue.

Once again protect photo with scraps of paper and add some finer splats of black ink on back ground around the photo and embellishment cluster.
