June challenge – Urban theme
Summer holiday is time in a year, when we mostly do our best not to stay in big cities. The weather usually encourages us to stay outside enjoying summer. So despite it we have urban theme for you 🙂 Create any project, that is about city, use at least one of our products and join our challenge 🙂 And most of all – have fun 🙂
Here is the inspiration from our team:
I’m drawn to modern buildings that combine glass and metal. One of my favorite ones was in my childhood home town, Turku, where the old rope factory was turned into space for the Turku polytechnic and the Turku conservatory. The combination of the red bricks, old metal and then cutting edge glass walls was very much to my liking.
So for this challenge I used my love for the buildings such as in the picture as my jumping off point and added also another urban detail – I mimicked graffiti in the background and drew some letters there.
Urban life ,is like living in a modern joungle!! Being in time , is like a lion hunting you.Driving big distances, is like avoiding dangerous snakes .Stressing thoughts and qualms being perfect in amy way ,is like irritating mosquito bites… I have used the Homegrown collection 12×12 paper Snicker among with Verano Azul stickers and Cold country die cut elements, to express my own take of urban messy life!! Oh yes i dream of a relaxing life in nature but life wants me in a big city….
When Louise visited the USA many years ago she always tried to take the ‘Hop on hop off’ buses in all of the capitol cities that she stayed in. Not only did she get to see a good variety of interesting tourist spots but also she got to see the architecture and people in urban areas. The photo in this layout is one she took of the back streets of Washington.
When I think about something Urban, I imagine skyscrappers and no trees. So as an escape for me and for my family, especially for a summer period is to live in the countryside. Homegrown collection was an inspiration for it.
Here is a video showing the whole album:
Urban is such a cool theme! I just love everything about it. the grunginess, the earthy feel and I had just the perfect photo to match it. This is my daughter travelling on the tram in Melbourne on her way to work one morning. Very “Urban” don’t you think? I also wanted to test out the new “Homegrown” collection and see just how grungy I could make it. I felt it had a little bit of an urban feel to some of the papers and I was right. I love how versatile this range is!!
I must admit that I am not a fan of cities. I prefer nature and small villages. In March I had a great pleasure to visit Norway and I felt in love with this country. I love everything about it. The sea, forests, the raw nature and even the buildings.
I was born in capital of Warsaw and I still live here, so I spent almost whole life in a big city. Urban atmosphere is very specific – everyone is in rush during daytime and in the evening, everyone tries to relax and enjoy the sunset, beer with friends or ice cream in a cafe. I am not a city lover though. Yet I can see the beauty in it sometimes 🙂
