Father’s day by Marie Johansson

We celebrate Fathers day in Sweden on November 13 and I wanted to make a project as a gift for my dad this year. I made this layout using the new Writer´s Block Collection, and it will be mounted on a hardboard so he can hang it on the wall.

I used the Epilogue paper as base, prepped it with clear gesso and then applied modeling pate trough the Numbers Stencil. I used a script stamp and white embossing powder to add extra interest, then sprayed on different tones of grey, black and brown Glimmer Mists before I started working on the dimensions.

To get a cluster and 3 dimensional effect I used a stack of paper scraps, tags and die cut elements from the collection. When satisfied I added the really cute photo of my dad as a baby.

Since my dad was born in 1945 I wanted to incorporate the year in my layout somehow. I came up with the idea of using the Number Stencil again. I simply drew in the lines with a pencil and filled in the numbers with two different colors of Sharpies. It turned out really well I think. I also wanted to add the date he was born, so I used the Writer´s Block clear stamp set and embossed the date in white. That did not turn out like I expected – you couldn´t read the numbers properly so I decided to stamp with black permanent ink on top of the embossed circles. That ended up like a lucky mistake – the effect is really cool.

Splatters of white paint, tread and a couple of stickers finish of the page nicely.

Thank you for stepping by today.
