Just flip it around by Riikka Kovasin

Hi there 7 Dots Studio fans! Today it’s Riikka here to share a couple of layouts with you. The idea behind these two is to use the same composition, just flip it from right to left and to use other colors and embellishments as well. Even though the same composition is in use as well as the background treatment, the pages look different, mostly because of the color.

I use the two newest collections in these – the brown, vintage colored one is done using the “Writer’s Block” and the minty, teal one using “Cotton Candy Dreams”. Both collections are by the lovely, talented DeeDee Catron. I’m so happy to be able to work with these collections as they fill my every need! The “Writer’s Block” is perfect to those vintage, grungy, ephemera-styled pages where as “Cotton Candy Dreams” speaks to my more modern side. What a great combination!

The brown page is about gingerbreads. To me baking these lovely treats is the start for the Holiday season. I especially love the scent they bring to the whole house when you boil the spices, sugar and syrup together. Because of the scent, I also added a cinnamon stick to my page. The background paper reminded me about kitchen towels as well, so it also fitted the theme. I really love gingerbreads so it’s “a true love story”.

The other page, the teal one, is about Christmas lights and how wonderful it was to visit the city centre with with one of my two girls. That one on one time is so precious! The picture shows Helsinki in December last year when rain was pouring the whole month and if I remember correctly there wasn’t much snow on the ground during the Holidays, either. I hope that’s not the case this year!

Thank you for stopping by today and since this is my December post – I’m wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and delightful new year 2017! May it be time of love and peace!

Xoxo Riikka
