Maple seeds by Juliya Tirskaya

Hello everybody!
I continue my experiments with Assamblage, and this time I made a small canvas, with maple seeds.

The idea is that in every seed is Life. It’s still asleep, but the time will come and this dormant force will blossom.

I love the 7 Dots Studio collection Lost and Found, it’s so mysteriously beautiful. From a small set of 6×6, I took a sheet with numbers, cut it into squares, and they became the basis.
Stamps and a stickers from the Lost and Found collection were the final touches.

Secret by Ola Khomenok

Hello dears!
Today I would like to share with you this mixed media collage. I always looking for new elements and materials to use in my art works. So this time I decided to use a few pieces of broken glass. When I saw these pieces, they reminded me a pretty long part of my life when I felt just like a broken glass. But all this in the past. I believe that our art not just to create a beautiful stuff, but also to heal our souls. So this collage it’s some kind of therapy :)

Few words about the process:
I started with gluing a pieces of cardstocks to the canvas and covered them with a clear Gesso to protect the paper before painting. Next I applied some texture using White Sand paste, Crackle paste and Light paste through stencils. After drying I colored the background with India inks. The second layer was a 7 Dots Studio tags cluster. I coloured the broken glass with alcohol inks. Next I glued all the elements to the background and added some final touches with word stickers. I’m in love with those stickers, using them you can create a little story in your art work.

Have a nice day!
Ola Khomenok

An ode to triangle by Riikka Kovasin

Hello there 7 Dots Studio fans! It’s Riikka here today with two projects. I again drew the inspiration for these pieces not only from the wonderful 7 Dots Studio products but the theme of the latest challenge theme “Historical figure”.

There’s plenty of historical figures I could have used. When thinking about the theme, a problem developed – I had too many figures to choose from! My love for the Finnish band Turisas led me to Vikings, my adoration to 18th century fashion to Madame Pompadour and so forth. So I took the easy way out and asked my husband to name a historical figure. The first one he suggested was Pythagoras. Pythagoras = a^2+b^2=c^2 = triangles! And as the chipboard sheet of “Dreamscapes” is full of triangles, I had my theme. I made two projects celebrating this lovely shape and the mathematical formula of right triangle, the Pythagorean Theorem.

The first project is an art journal page celebrating the triangle. The earthy tones of the Dreamscapes turned into rusty ones in my mind and I used tea coloured watercolour, earthy inks and rust paste in my make. The background is done using several pieces of patterned papers I had in my stash. I love how the collections are so easy to mix and I love to mix different patterns in my projects.

My other project is a set of ATCs. There’s three cards, like the sides or points in a triangle. And there’s letters a, b and c, representing the letters in the theorem. The cards have a lot of the same elements as the journal page, like the rust paste.

Thank you for stopping by today! And don’t forget to participate to the challenge! Ta ta for now!
Xoxo Riikka
