Today by Helen Tilbury

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas day!! I created this off-the-page project as a gift for a special friend of mine, as an encouragement to her to remember to stay happy & positive in life.

The Verano Azul Collection was perfect for this. The colours are fresh & modern & all the sayings are inspirational & motivational.

I bought this heart on a stand as a décor item for my home some time back. We have enjoyed it, but it was very plain, with the word “Home”carved right through it. I decided to recycle it as the base of a special gift for my friend, which meant I had to ensure that I layered Verano Azul papers behind the sentiment cards, to cover the “Home” engraving.

I used the Verano Azul Celadon pattern paper for my phrases & layered various other Verano Azul Papers behind them.

I embellished with Verano Azul die-cuts & stickers & added some flowers, butterflies & a bird & nest, as my friend is a huge animal lover!

This is my last project for 7 Dots Studio! I have loved being a part of this team & will miss you all.

Thank you for all your support during 2015 & I wish all you 7 Dots Studio fans a happy & prosperous new year!

December challenge – Cold Weather

We have last challenge for you – last one in this year of course :) We all know, that December is a very busy month, but… our challenge is open till January, 19th :) So you have plenty of time to create a project inspired by “Cold Weather” theme :) Here is the inspiration from our Design Team:

I simply LOVE this pattern paper from the Yuletide Collection {aptly named Gingerbread}. It’s so warm & cosy & works so well as a background paper for Winter layouts because white POPS off it just like snow! I didn’t realise just how awesome this collection was until I actually created with it {this being my first project} but I am now incredibly excited to use it all up as it epitomizes everything about the Holiday Season!

Cold weather – but this really cold, snowy, wintery and sunny – is the one that i really LOVE! I love snow and winter activities. For our December challenge I created snowy layout about skiing. I hope You’ll like it.

I created my winter layout using Yuletide and Lost and Found collections.
Winter is magic. To be cozy, outside temperatures need to be cold :)
There’s nothing cozy about summer time, because you can’t really curl up under a blanket with a hot mug of tea :)
Wishing you all the best for the Holiday Season!

I have used gorgeous Yuletide collection to create this winter layout.

I usually do layouts but this time I wanted to do something else. When thinking what to do I first thought about ATCs but I do those often, too. But cards, regular cards, they are a rarity for me! So I tackled that format and made snowy winter cards! Even though the Christmas is coming I didn’t want to make pure Christmas cards – partly also because the theme was “Cold Weather” and to me that means a cold color palette also. I mixed in items from various collections but kept the colors really icy and cold.

Louise hadnt realy experienced a snowy winter or what true cold was until she dpent one of her holidays in the USA during winter. This layout features a photo that she took of Battery Park NYC. Louise absolutely lived this wintery holiday, but not enough that she would want to live through this type of weather on a regular basis LOL. :)

I’ve made a card using amazing Verano Azul Collection and chipboard pieces from Yuletide. I mixed 2 collections to get light cold palette with winter symbols.

Layout by Helen Tilbury

Hi everyone, Helen here with you today to share another layout created using the Lost & Found Collection. As you can see I am loving using it. The vintage look combined with the grungy colourways are just my thing!

This layout features a photo of my eldest son, who is very busy at the moment, studying business at university. Making art featuring him is a therapeutic way for me to process my feelings about missing him so much while he is away.

He is the kind of boy who likes to be very involved wherever he is so he is on the committee of the residence he lives (the student house) as well as being on the sports committee & playing soccer for the university too.

As a result he doesn’t have a lot of time left over to keep in touch with me as much as I would like J Here, my message to him, is that if he wants to get something out of relationships, it will be relative to what he puts in himself!

That is the significance of the numbers I have used. It means, if you do not put anything in, you cannot expect to reap any benefits. Though of course as his mother, I always love him, no matter what! But this is a message to him, to sometimes slow down & remember me!

That is why I have used clocks as a recurring theme throughout the page, to reinforce the concept of time. Kids never have enough time for the important things but always enough time for the things they want to do. I am trying to teach him about balance, & how to juggle all your responsibilities.

Priorities – what is important – and to remember to always make time for what matters most. As we get older, we realise of course that that is family, but for 20-somethings they are not quite there yet! Anyway I hope you enjoyed my layout.
