Arty Tags by Louise Nelson

Jan 16

Today I would like to share with you some fun Arty ‘stash-busting’ Tags, that I created using the fabulous 7 Dots Studio Fortune teller 12 x 12 Tags. I have used both the small and large tags. We all know that we tend to use our favest tags when creating our projects and then we are left with 1 or 2, before we move onto our next favourite new release 7 Dots Studio paper range to create with!!! Today I want to share with you a fun art creative process on using up those left over tags. These tags were inspired by one of my favourite artists – Brooke Wandall

Here are the steps i took to create those:

• The products and tools I used were: Small Gel Printing plate, Brayer, craft knife, Heat tool, acrylic paint, blank ink pad, scrap cardstock and back journal pens.
• To begin with I layered down a coat of acrylic paint onto the tags using the gel printing plate, the paint was applied with a brayer in a random pattern.

• I created a vase shape template with the scrap cardstock. This was completed freestyle by hand with a craft knife.
• I applied a coat of light coloured acrylic paint to the gel printing plate, layered over the vase template, and then imprinted the vase shape onto the tags.
• I then dried the tags with a heat tool.

• To complete the tags I used back journal pens to draw and mark around the vase shape and then drew in some flowers.
• I then inked the edges of the tags with black ink.

• I have included these 2 close up images to show how when I used the gel plate to print on the tags that I did it light enough so that some of the original pattern shows through. This will add to the visual interest and overall pleasing look of the tags.

Well I do hope you have enjoyed this ‘stash-busting’ creative process of creating some Arty Tags. Here are some photos of the individual tags. Cheers and happy creating!!!
