Firework and Zone by Riikka Kovasin

Mar 19

Hi there!
It’s Riikka here today sharing two pages with you! I mainly used the lovely, colourful “Paint chips” collection, but mixed in some “Norther Lights” and older ones as well. What I love about the two new collections is even though they are completely different, there’s similar colors so you can mix and match. You can add more color to Northern Lights by adding some Paint Chips to it and on the other hand calm down the vibrant colors of Paint Chips by the serene Norther Lights.

The first page I titled “Firework”. It’s done about my younger daughter who is a little fire cracker. She’s a drama queen in good and bad – she makes people at ease and have a good time, but when the bad day comes, it’s either her way or no way.

I used the text stickers as a design element cascading them from the top of the page to the bottom. There’s also some ink trough a stencil and stamping in the background. This time I tried to make the paper layers near the photo really tight and close to the shot as I didn’t want to hide the text stickers much. For embellishments I used mainly Paint Chips Element Stickers.

The other page is about my comfort zone – the idea for this came from the colors of the background paper. Whenever I’m in doubt, I usually go for the blue/green/turquoise palette. This paper had that but also a strong pink, contrasting the two sides. So the question is going out of the comfort zone or not.

The background is done using metallic acrylic paints is blueish green and purple and a hot pink acrylic paint. I painted them all with a silicone brush, mixing the colors here and there. On top there’s also some ink through a stencil and stamping. White splashes are done with white gesso. For embellishing I used die cuts and word stickers. The stars are cut out of the die cut sheet – I had already used the stars and wanted to have the shapes in the page.

Thank you for your visit today! All the best to you!
